Lisa Cooper Ellison
Lisa Cooper Ellison is an editor, writing coach, and speaker with an EdS in clinical mental health counseling and a background in mindfulness. She has spent the last two decades helping clients and students turn difficult experiences into art and currently teaches courses in memoir. Lisa is a regular contributor to the Jane Friedman blog, and her essays and short stories have appeared in HuffPost, Hippocampus Magazine, Kenyon Review Online, and Brevity, among others. Writers Lisa has worked with have sold books to the American Psychological Association, Hachette, and St. Martin’s Press, among others. She’s currently working on a memoir about how traveling with her husband’s heavy metal band into post–Bosnian War Yugoslavia soon after her brother’s suicide led to a promise that ultimately saved her.
