Karen Kelley Perkins
Karen Kelley Perkins teaches physiology and biology at a charter school. She earned a master’s degrees in botany and biochemistry, then completed a doctorate in molecular biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She worked as a cancer research scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and at UC Berkeley, where she was a Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Cancer Research Fund fellow. Her essays and articles have appeared in a wide variety of publications, ranging from Science magazine to The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine. She lives in Pacific Palisades, California.
