Francis Doherty

Francis Doherty, an army captain, flew as a reconnaissance pilot over Laos from 1969 to 1970, during the Vietnam War. He left the military in 1972 and went on to fly as a commercial airline pilot for thirty-two years. Mr. Doherty grew up in Lloyd Neck, NY, graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1967, and currently resides in New Canaan, CT. He is married to Catherine Grace, and they have five children and eight grandchildren between them. He has had essays published in several literary journals, as well as in the second and fourth volumes of Vietnam to Western Airlines. He recently completed a memoir, “Only the Light Moves,”  recounting his year in Vietnam.
