Caring for the Heart
For an upcoming issue, Creative Nonfiction is seeking new narratives about caring for the heart—medically, technologically, or metaphorically. We’re looking for stories from healthcare workers and researchers; counselors and cardiologists and coaches; nurses and nutritionists … or any red-blooded writer with a heart.
Essays must be vivid and dramatic; they should combine a strong and compelling narrative with an informative or reflective element and reach beyond a strictly personal experience. We’re open to a broad range of interpretations of the theme, with the understanding that all works submitted must tell true stories and be factually accurate. Above all, we’re looking for well-written prose, rich with detail and a distinctive voice.
Guidelines: Essays must be previously unpublished and no longer than 4,000 words. All submissions will be considered for publication. This is a paying market.
There is a $3 reading fee, waived for current True Story and/or Creative Nonfiction subscribers.
