PARDON OUR TECHNOLOGY

It's official: CNF has joined the 21st Century. In other words, we've upgraded our e-newsletter to an HTML format.

What does that mean? Basically, we can now incorporate lots of pictures and colors and photos and videos and links into every correspondence (basically, you will no longer have to look at unsightly url addresses).

If you subscribe to our newsletter now, you should automatically begin receiving the HTML version of the newsletter. (If you're already on our email list, simply follow the link at the bottom of the newsletter to manage your preferences, and choose "I prefer to receive emails in HTML format.")

OUR FIFTEENTH YEAR FOR $15!

CNF turns 15 this year, and to celebrate this milestone, we are offering new subscribers the opportunity to purchase our 15th year (3 issues of CNF) for only $15!*

Note: this offer is valid only until the Fourth of July.

Take advantage of this deal today, and your subscription will begin with Issue 35--The Best Creative Nonfiction, Vol. 2 (a $15.95 value alone), arriving in mailboxes later this summer.

Don't let this pass you by. Subscribe today and help ensure another 15 fantastic years of Creative Nonfiction.

*This offer available to U.S. subscribers only.

WHO KNEW BASEBALL WAS SO POPULAR?

Father's Day is right around the corner, and we know what you're thinking: What do you get for the man who has everything? Well, we here at CNF have always believed that there is no better present than a book (except maybe a journal subscription). And, as luck would have it, we have the perfect book for your dad: Anatomy of Baseball.

This book, published by SMU Press in April, has been getting rave reviews everywhere, from bloggers to book reviewers. Heck, even Major League Baseball has taken notice. In fact, if you happen to be lucky enough to be attending the MLB All-Star game as a VIP (now, that would be a great Father's Day present!), then you'll be receiving a free copy of Anatomy of Baseball in your VIP gift basket.

Won't be attending? No matter--you can always pick up a copy in CNF's online bookstore.

Finally, if you're going to be in Salem, Massachusetts, on June 28, stop into Cornerstone Books at 1 pm. Anatomy contributors Katherine A. Powers, Elizabeth Bobrick, and J. D. Scrimgeour will be reading selections from the book. If you're nice, they might even autograph a copy for you.

412 GETS A MAKEOVER

After a brief hiatus, the literary event formally known as 412: The Pittsburgh Creative Nonfiction Literary Festival is back this year with a new name and some new ideas. The all-new Creative Nonfiction Writers' Conference will be held in Pittsburgh October 2-4, 2008.

This year's theme--science and technology--is inspired by CNF's longtime home, Pittsburgh, a city whose social and economic life has always been intertwined with science and technological innovation.

Events include a reading, an evening with Lawrence Krauss, and panels with Corey Powell, Virginia Morell, and CNF's own Lee Gutkind.

A series of intensive writing workshops will also be offered. Topics covered will include writing dialogue, book proposals, query letters, research and writing about science and technology themes. Manuscript reviews will also be offered.

Stay tuned for more details.

MYSPACE AND FACEBOOK AND BLOGS, OH MY

As we mentioned above, CNF is making a real effort to keep up with the information age. And that's why, in an attempt to allow you, our readers, the ability to integrate CNF into all aspects of your online life, we are proud to announce that we now have MySpace and Facebook pages. So, if you keep an active profile on either site, please stop by and befriend us.

In other techie news, the Godfather continues to blog away. Check out his newest entry here, and feel free to post a comment.

The more attention his blog gets, the more likely Lee is to blog and to blog often. So, let's give the Godfather more reasons to speak out.
