Jan Beatty

Jan Beatty’s collection of poetry, Mad River, won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize from the University of Pittsburgh Press, and was a finalist in The Great Lakes Colleges Association Award for New Writing in 1995. Other awards include the 1995 State Street Prize for her chapbook, Ravenous, the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry, and two fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Her work has appeared in journals such as Poetry East, Quarterly West, Southern Poetry Review, and Witness. Currently Beatty teaches writing at the University of Pittsburgh and hosts and produces Prosody, a public radio show on WYEP-FM, featuring the work of local and national writers.
