Charles Bardes

Charles Bardes lives and practices in New York City, where he is Professor of Clinical Medicine and Associate Dean at Weill Cornell Medical College. “The Doctor in Middle Age” is excerpted from his manuscript The Double Serpent: Subtexts in Medicine, selections of which also appear in the print and online versions of the journal AGNI. His most recent book, Pale Faces: The Masks of Anemia (Bellevue Literary Press, 2008), investigates the cultural, literary, and mythological associations of a common disease construct.
